Telemark Kunstsenter (TKS) is a regional, artist-run center for contemporary art located in Skien, housed in the historic 1849 Norges Bank building. Spanning two floors, we offer 270 square meters of exhibition space, an art shop, an "Art Lab" for workshops, a youth club, and a small cinema located inside the original bank vault. TKS presents contemporary art by living artists and is dedicated to safeguarding freedom of expression in society. We are a co-owner of the Greenlight art triennial and operate our own publishing house, TKS FORLAG.
TKS has a special focus on children and youth through our newly launched project, TKS UNG. We are deeply committed to diversity and inclusion, striving to be a space where everyone feels welcome and a sense of belonging. Through TKS NABO, we work to engage the local community and lower the threshold for participation. TKS is a member of the nationwide network Art Centers in Norway (KiN).
We host five exhibition periods a year alongside numerous events. For more information, please visit our website and follow us on social media!
TKS serves as Telemark’s center of expertise for the visual arts. We assist the public sector with art in public spaces and offer consultancy for private businesses looking to integrate art into the workplace. Please feel free to contact us for guided tours, art purchases, or any other professional inquiries regarding the field of art.
