About

M/S Skarsfos was built on Fevig Iron Foundry in 1908, transported in parts to Tinnsjøen in Telemark. Here it was riveted together and launched. Since then it has been in service for Norwegian Hydro until 1983 under the local nickname "The Black Struggle." Asbjørn Lia from Skien acquired the boat in 1990 when it was without roofing and in rather a bad condition. It has taken Asbjørn Lia 11 years to total restore the boat. Now M/S Skarsfos been a very good addition to the fleet of barges serving the Telemark Canal and the waters from Skien to Porsgrunn, Brevik, Langesund and Jomfuland. The boat takes 68 passengers.
