Øvre Verket at Ulefoss is a collection of worker's homes connected to Ulefos Jernværk. The houses is from the 19th century and is special because they are built around a yard. There are toilets, brewer's houses and other buildings as well as water posts that are still to be seen in the yard. The little houses are red painted. This paint is a product of the iron ore on which Jernverket builds its production on.
The guide plays Oline, one of the people who lived there
The guide at Øvre Verket plays Oline who lived in one of the houses, her and the yard's history conveyed, among other things, via this guide. The houses were protected in the 1980s and is now filled with museums, exhibitions, shops and workshops.
The garden and the yard are authentic
The garden is authentic with ancient perennials, lilacs, jasmines and herbs.
A playground with old and new toys, is diligently used. Here the children can play, while the parents can relax with food and drink.
Labor history and cultural experiences
The labor history is in focus and it is disseminated through various exhibitions. In addition to storytelling, there is also the opportunity to attend concerts, literary evenings, quizzes and lectures.
